Mommy Kickback Picnic Recap: MAHA Mothers Reunite

MAHA mommies and their babies at the Mommy Kickback picnic

Let me tell you about this past Friday.

Our MAHA mommies came together for the Mommy Kickback Aftermath Picnic, and it was everything. This was the first time so many of us had been in the same place since giving birth, which meant it was also the first time our babies got to meet each other. All these little bundles of joy, finally in one spot, being introduced like the tiny VIPs they are.

We laughed. We cried. We asked the questions you only feel safe asking around women who get it. We shared advice. We took so many photos. And in one of those moments you can't plan for, we ended up doing an impromptu maternity shoot for one of our mommies, our very last pregnant mama, who never got the chance to have her photos taken. So we made the chance. Right there. Because that's what this village does.

The kids were in heaven. Games, the water park, all the running and splashing and joy that comes with little ones who have somewhere safe to just be kids.

But the part that stayed with me the most? Watching our experienced mommies pour encouragement into our new mommies. The ones who've been walking this road for a while, wrapping their arms around the ones just starting out. That's the whole heart of the Kickback right there. Nobody doing this alone. Everybody a little more held than they were when they walked in.

We're missing three of our mommies, and we felt their absence. One of them just gave birth on July 5th, so she has the best excuse in the world. We can't wait to meet that new little one too.

(Some photos aren't included here, out of respect for our mommies' privacy.)

Before we left, we set a time for the next one. And I'll be honest, we're already stoked.

This is the part of the mommy equation where we come to do everything, and have all the answers for once. Friday was proof.

Your girls at the Kickback are already counting down to the next gathering.
